Open awareness

Open awareness lets sounds, sensations, thoughts, and moods appear within a broad field of attention without choosing one permanent object.

01

How to practice

Begin with a stable anchor, then relax the boundary around it. Notice whatever becomes prominent and how it changes. Nothing needs to be held in the center, and nothing needs to be pushed to the edge.

02

What it develops

The practice can reveal experience as a changing field rather than a list of problems to manage. Enough structure matters: openness should feel awake and embodied, not vague or disconnected.

03

When it may fit

Open awareness often fits after some stability has been established with breath, sound, or contact. It can be useful when choosing one narrow object feels strained, or when you want to practice meeting a changing experience without immediately organizing it.

Practice this technique with guidance.

Choose it in Nella and set the time you have. Add an intention if something specific is on your mind.
